The u3a Sustainable floristry group got together to create arrangements for one class in the show, an arrangement no wider or deep than 30cm in predominantly one colour.

The weather was hot, very hot. Our usual supplier of British Flowers was on holiday, so Danielle set off to collect flowers from the Pauntley Flower hub. We contributed foliage from our gardens.

We chose to use orange tones and had a good selection of flowers, although it was a big challenge to keep them cool enough!

Not everyone felt brave enough to submit an entry, but all enjoyed creating an arrangement with perhaps a little more discipline than usual. Would it fit into a space the size of an A4 sheet? Was there a focal point? Was there a good balance of foliage?

At the show, our exhibits were up against people using Oasis. Those arrangements were more formal/stiff due to the foam being used. We were proud of our efforts, and in the show Rosie gained second place!
